When the Green Deal causes confusion in EU trade policy

The Green Deal is no longer content to occupy centre stage in European politics. The EU is increasingly seeking to impose its green standards on imports, and therefore indirectly on its trading partners. It’s a trend that not only irritates its trading partners, but also divides it internally, to the point of destabilising the Commission’s powerful Directorate-General for Trade.
