Gas storage : where the Council and Parliament are heading

Contexte compares the respective mandates of the Member States and the European Parliament ahead of the trialogue negotiations due to begin on 13 May. The aim is to extend by two years the regulation introducing targets for filling gas stocks in European countries.

What about Russian gas?

In its compromise amendments published on 11 April, the European Parliament stipulates that each month the Member States, by monitoring the filling levels of the installations, should inform the Commission of the proportion of Russian gas in storage. However, the text specifies that this only applies if the information is "available".
